We Be Climbing

Whenever we see a body of water like this on a hike, we know what’s coming. On this day, we had to cool off with a fresh head dunk. It was the perfect way to feel refreshed on a hot day of bouldering. Have you ever done a creek dunk like this? Joey is really showing off that he knows how to use his assets while climbing. On this ascent of The Advisor, there are some solid cracks, but most of the holds are small holes. Let us know which photo highlights Joey best. This camping trip was short, and we didn’t send any major climbs. We went out one day to scout the top of the butte, with nerves in our stomach standing over the edge. The second day was from below, and we realized the ascent was possible and not as scary. Now it’s all about getting back and climbing. The Latchstring Boulders were some of the first boulders we ever traveled to see. It took three hours of driving into a gorgeous canyon in South Dakota, not knowing what was in store. But finding a great boulder to talk to is a different story. We headed out to Spearfish, SD to take a look at their local Rec Center. Inside you can find this lovely wall to the right of you when you enter. Let us know in the comments if you go here? Someday we’ll have to come back to Square Butte. But this gorgeous Sunday morning led to a great hike into the climbing area. When we arrived, we found a nice boulder to climb. It also gave us a chance to look over the Butte and plan out what we want to send next. Let us know if you think we should come out here and climb this. South Dakota just hits different.
